DC5R HID installation FOR NOOBS! ( wanting do this this install with no experience)

I recently just purchased a HID kit to suit my dc5 BUT i had no idea how to install! After a few reads online i was still puzzled as nothing was specific! so here is my guide for "DC5 HID installation for noobs!" Its alot easier then people think!

AIM: To change the OEM halogen bulb to HIDs

What you need:
- Socket wrench
- 10 mm socket
- Extension bar for socket wrench
- Philips screwdriver
- Flat head screw driver
- HID kit

There are 2 ways to install the HIDs, and yes i tried both. ( there are advantages to both)

1. Plug and play wires (easier)
2. Using Relay Harness (more better)

Either way you choose to install your HIDs, you will need do the following first-

REMOVE THE FRONT BAR
Grill
- Open up the bonnet to access the full grill
- There are 6 clips ( 4 at the top, 2 below, at the ends)
- To take out a clip just lift/pop out the centre then it should all come out

Front bar
There are 6 screws and 6 clips
- At the ends of the front bar, where it meets the qaurter panel there should be a screw ( on both the left and the right sides of the bar)
- The rest of the screws and clips are under the bar, remove all these.
- Once all the screws and clips are out, put out the front bar ( recommended that you pull out the left/right ends of the bar)

Your front bar is officially...OFF! now for next step

REMOVING HEADLIGHTS

- There are 4 screws to each headhight
- 2 at the top, 1 on the side, and one at the bottom near the grill
- For the bottom use the extension bar the socket to take it out
- Once all the screws (4) are out start unplugging the lights

once the head lights are out you can
CHANGE THE HALOGEN BULBS TO HIDs

- Where the OEM bulb lies there should be a large rubber seal, take that off.
- Now take out the OEM bulb
- Put the HID bulb through the rubber and then put it into the headlight.
- Put the rubber seal where it was originally

MOUNT THE HID BALLAST
- Undo the bolt from the directly under the tip of the gaurd
- Mount the ballast up, then re-bolt back into the gaurd with the ballast in

Now that all that is done, its time to connect all the wires up! Remember there are 2 ways to do this!

1. Plug and play
This step is simple because you pretty much just connect wires from the hids into the ballast, then the ballast to the OEM wire harness


USING THE DIAGRAM
- A, should connect straight into the mounted ballast
- B + C should connect to the wires connecting to the ballast
- D ( 2 wires, black + red) should connect to the OEM wire harness
once all wires are connected do the reverse steps of taking of the bumper.

You have now finished!

2. Using relay harness

The supplied HID kit should come with a relay harness, if not you can purchase this on ebay for about $23.
NOTE: remember that that the side of the wire with the relay box and fuse goes to the side of the battery!


USING THE DIAGRAM ( from www.HIDtoday.com)

The diagram should indicate which cable goes where, following this you will finish the relay harness setup.
Finally just reverse the steps of taking of the bumper.
