    K&N Pod Filter

    Hi guys,

I don't know too much about pod filters - do you need to oil the filter and buy one of those cleaning kits to go with it? Any info is great...

    Thanks,

If you buy a K&N filter chances are it will come with the cleaning kit, however I would not use an oil-type filter if your car is equipped with an air flow meter (which I don't think yours does).

Either way, I'd recommend getting a dry-type pod filter, i.e. simota, 3a, apexi, etc.

Even just a cheap one from Supercheap will work fine.

If the filter is going to be exposed to radiant engine heat then I'd also recommend fabricating a custom heat shield for it (you'll find many DIY topics regarding this) but if you're willing to go one step further buy or make a cold air intake.

You do need to oil the K&N's. Get the recharge kit.

The Fujita is a good filter! A bit pricey though but it looks sex! So does the Apexi.

they flow well, are a dry filter, are nice and quiet and sound great

they have also given the best throttle response and been the cleanest for longest out of all the pods i have tested

from what i've used and seen. K&N are great for a slap on filter. (like mine). once you start looking at CAI's and SRI's the other brands mentioned above are better

i've just got normal k&n pod stuck on the end of factory intake pipe. gives nice induction noise when WOT but quiet when part throttle. i bought some filter oil with mine. $8 and will last forever.

i had the same on my Dc2 VTIR ... stock intake arm with apexi pod - the fujita pod was a little better ... but the k+n sucked balls on both my teg and civic ... it was loud in a bad way (not revvy just annoying blary) and sluggy with response

i tried generic, apexi, k+n and fujita on my civic and teg with stock intake arms ... than i upgraded the integra to full Fujita CAI and that was kik ass

the civic has a simota big tube (whale penis) intake on it now but i have a Fujita CAI Black Edition on its way so that i dont have heat soak

Wow... you sure have tried a lot of intakes!

Do you guys know how often you would have to clean and re-oil a K&N filter?
