it would be cheaper to buy a 2nd hand one.

Post a thread up in the WTB section some member might have one laying around and willing to get rid it of cheap.

Delayed or hard shifting usually points to a faulty valve-body... Get a diagnosis by a professional automatic transmission mechanic. Shouldn't cost more than $100.
Replacing a valve-body, while not cheap, is cheaper than replacing a whole transmission. As it would probably be difficult to find a brand new one outside a dealer you could look for used one (transmission or valve-body) however it could have the same problems that you'd only find out about once installed. Bit risky.
Speaking as someone who has had an automatic transmission rebuilt (non-honda), I agree with Super-DA9.... Get a manual g/box! They last longer, are easier to maintain, more fun to drive and would cost roughly the same in labour to install as an auto. Plus being an Integra a manual g/box would be way easier to find than an auto.
