K&N Typhoon Intake Conversion To SRI

Most if not all K&N Typhoon Intake Systems can also be converted in the SRI (Short Ram Intake) Systems.

For this, I have decided to show how and what it looks like..

TEST CAR : My Sexy Euro Accord Obviously...

Refresher Pictures of the Typhoon Intake System

With the CAI in place, suction noise is negligible in the car however, under load WOT, it's loud and it screams...

Now.. I removed the second part of the intake that is linked to the first part through a FlexiHose

Originally, I used back the supplied filter with the kit, but it didn't sit nicely in the engine bay, the front of the filter was backed up against the firewall of the car

I then decided to try the K&N Race Series filter that I purchased as a replacement for the supplied one in an event that it is being cleaned (I ran tests on this filter as well in one of the articles here).

Due to it's shorter length, it fits nicely in the area with no dramas of any kind..

Ok... Induction Noise... At cold starts, as usual it starts out hissing loudly, but when it's warmed up, the hissing went down significantly. Inside the car, noise levels remained the same, under WOT, the hissing of the intake "feels" slightly louder than with the CAI... I said "feel" due to the fact that it's really didn't feel louder but there was a different note or scream rather.. maybe of a different frequency that pulsates through the interior cabin.

Performance wise? I have no idea... Not willing to try it out at this stage.. Maybe later....

Anyways... I'll give it another WOT shot to confirm further my findings.. Give me a day to really WOT all the way...
