    Mugen Airbox problem

    Hey all,

Ive just bought myself a Mugen airbox for my DC5R, and wanted to know is it possible to buy just the top part of the box seperately from anywhere? The one i have has slight damage.

Also, the top of the box is very close to my Cusco strut brace. Obviously the engine rocks about on the mounts slightly and im risking the airbox hitting the brace. Will upgrading engine mounts eliminate the rocking completely? I still have OEM mounts at the moment, but will upgrade at some stage.

Any help would be great. Cheers.

Stiffer engine mounts will reduce engine movement.

    But will also incrase vibrations.

I am not sure if you can buy just the top half of the box, but there is a guy selling the whole airbox used for 450 on the forums.

Reduce engine movement or eliminate it?

    Can you not read?

    I said REDUCE.

To complete eliminate it would require solid mounts and that could result in snapping/cracking your block.

Yeah I can read smartass. I was trying to get a gauge as to how much it would reduce the rocking. Of course stiffer engine mounts will reduce rocking, thats what theyre designed for.

    Thats up to you.

You can get different range of stiffness for the mounts but the stiffer you get the more cabin vibration you will have.

Your stock mounts might even be stuffed.

DC5 and EP3 mounts are known to stuff up easily.

This would definately sound about right..

Either upgrade to Hasport Mounts or Mugen dude...

Is changing your engine mounts DIYable? Is it a difficult job? Or would you recommend taking the car to a mechanic to get it done?

It can be DIYable if you have right tools.

What are the right tools? Is it a half-day job or an all day job?
