Why do people always make the assumption that a p72 manifold doesn't produce a big "pop"

You can just change to a p72 ecu and it won't look for the secondary runners
I've got a stock b16 in my Crx with good headers and exhaust and cold air intake it pops real nice

erm because it doesnt LOL.. even with I/H/E there is only barely audible difference.
if your C2 with dual-tract IM pops, perhaps your rings are f**Ked LOL.. or your VTEC engagement point has been raised..

P72 = VTiR/SiR-G ECU.. which WILL run in assumption that it has the standard IM with butterflies.
P73 = ITR ECU.. this wont be looking for Butterflies :P

B16's have a notoriously loud POP.. my Del sol just had intake and stock headers etc and man that thing has one of the loudest pop's i've heard when i was running the JDM P30 ECU with 5,800 switch point.. (AUS P30 is 5,500 switch).

Maps are different to specific tuning.

Yes, but IMO you're best to get the real thing.

put simply, i've witnessed my "pop" change from a subtle b18c2 "pop" to a very aggressive, similar if not equivalent b16a crossover note.
this was after i changed to the J's Racing header and J's Racing 60RS catback, one AFTER the other. vtec engagement was not raised. The biggest
difference lied within the 60RS. That made the "pop" very evident.

i've played around with a few exhausts on the same engine, whether it be cheap or expensive, custom or branded. all i'm gonna say is, if you want a clean
and noticeable vtec crossover, a custom exhaust welded by a hungover welder is not gonna cut it - not for a b18c2 anyway. even now with the car tuned to s300
with a smooth power curve, the vtec engagement being same position, the vtec "pop" is still the same.

by the way, that's the first time i've heard of b18c2 vtec engaging "louder and more noticeable" because the rings are gone.
