SUPER GT 2012, NSX coming back!!!!! With pics 3P and Video

I was checking some info on the Super GT official site and saw that Honda is now testing the 2012 spec NSX. NOT HSV-010 but NSX!!!!!!!! The only change to it is from MR to FR. Well I'm not sure if it is good news or bad news lol. Good to see the NSX back but change it to FR........ Some pics

Added video. I'm pretty sure that is the 1.

    From Super GT official website:

Hybrid system car tested at Motegi
System mounted on FR type NSX. Tests eye 2012 regulation changes

The reason for this special appearance was to test a new hybrid system mounted in the FR type NSX. The new SUPER GT regulation set to go into effect for the 2012 season will enable participation of cars with hybrid systems. With regard to the use of hybrid systems, GTA has been in talks with the three makers competing in the GT500 class, and Honda has stepped forward this time with an advance hybrid technology development project.

The system in use is made by Zytek and is said to be a battery-equipped & liquid-cooled hybrid system. Initial shakedown testing has already been conducted a month ago, but this appearance marked the first full-fledged track tests. The system has a 40kw output and is said to be capable not only of powering an overtake button function like those used in F1 but also powering the car as an EV (electric-powered vehicle) in the pit lane. What's more, it is reported that the battery can be charged from a no-charge state to full charge while running just one lap of a racetrack. A full charge is said to power the overtake button for approximately 20 seconds of use.
According to a Honda spokesperson, the total weight of the system is about 50 kg. The battery and the radiator that cools it are mounted in the rear of the car. The engine mounted in the front of the vehicle is said to be the same 3.4-liter V8 presently used by Honda in the GT500 machines, but the overall weight of the car with the hybrid system is approximately 100 kg heavier than the current GT500 machine.
Because they wanted gthe opinion of a veteran driver," Katsutomo Kaneishi was chosen as the test driver. Despite the added weight of the car, Kaneishi succeeded in breaking the 1 min. 50 sec. barrier on the Motegi track on the second day of tests with a lap time of 1 min. 49.468 sec. That was just 4.453 seconds behind the fastest time recorded in that session by the ENEOS SC430.

Although there will surely be further testing and development before a hybrid system like this is actually used in GT competition, the initial results were positive. At present it is not clear whether GTA will supply this system to all cars participating in the GT500 class from the 2012 season. It is likely that development will continue in consultation with the various makers to determine the appropriate timing for full-scale adoption.

Sounds like its a hybrid they are testing for next year. Interesting....

    Japanese to English translation
Sun, October 6-7, Twin Ring Motegi (Tochigi), the joint test was conducted this year, the fourth tire manufacturer. For this test, this year's SUPER GT car number 99 is not turned on the NSX was running the war. This Honda NSX had previously been tested for a FR vehicle development "FR prototype car," he. Gaze has also attracted officials and reporters and why now, GTA in 06, we explained, this test revealed the contents.

This was the car we tested was a hybrid system. The technical regulations from 2012, and hybrid vehicles will be able to participate, GTA in this respect GT500 continues to exchange views with manufacturers to compete in three classes, in the prior art and develop this Honda I offered to form.
This system is manufactured by Zytek, battery-powered and hybrid system that it cooled. 1 month ago has already completed a shakedown, testing and had their first serious this time. 40kw in the performance of this system, F1 was also used KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) can be used as Obateikubotan like, such as the pit road EV (electric motor) that can run it. In addition, the battery is empty, can be fully charged in just one week. When fully charged, about 20 seconds, but that can be used Obateikubotan.
According to Honda officials, the combined weight of 50 kg on all systems. Radiator to cool the battery and it is mounted on the rear portion of the machine. Meanwhile, the engines are mounted on the front, as the current GT500 class cars, but that the 3.4-liter V8, the vehicle than the current GT500 is about 100 kg heavier weight.
"Hear the opinion of the veteran" So, the test was in charge Satoshi Tsuyoshi Kingstone. However, while heavy vehicles, the second day in the morning, and 468 as early as 1 minute 49 seconds, 50 seconds off the timesheets. ENEOS SC430 was the top time in the session and the time gap between the 453 and 4 seconds, are showing great speed. (Photo: Shinpei Suzuki)

By introducing this battle, but will need further testing to continue, as the strong opening. This system, since in 2012 GT500 on all models GTA whether supplied from at this stage is not obvious, the future development while incorporating the views of each vehicle manufacturer, is likely to explore the time deployment.

I added the video just then. And man that sounds so different. Well Honda will need to come up with some ways to get rid of that extra 100kg by 2012.
