    New CRX in the family.

    Hey guys.

Some may know me already from the Prelude section.
I came to the last annual QLD cruise, and the wife had such a good time she decided she wanted a Honda of her own.

I found a 1989 JDM CRX in kinda sad shape. It was a reasonable car, but sadly neglected.
I picked it up for a reasonably good price and started looking for some parts.
While doing so I came accross a 1991 which had been crashed, which I snatches up for parts imediatly.

The JDM has a full glass roof. But had drum rear breaks, and strangely had NO sway bar what soever.
The AUDM however had 4 wheel disk breaks. And unless it was a factory option i am not aware of, someone had gone to the trouble of fitting slotted rotors all round. (I know verry little about the CRX models at this stage)
Also the JDM has a 1.5L SOHC dual carby, D15 motor and 5cog manual. The parts car has a 1.6L DOHC EFI D16.
The JDM is a 2+2 and the AUDM is a 2 seater.

Basicy, i'm stripping the AUDM to build up the JDM.

I have already stripped off the 4 wheel disks, and swapped them into the JDM. Have yet to swap the break master cylinder and booster. But that won't take long.
And I am considering wether or not to swap out the D15 for the AUDMs D16. (perhaps I should wait, and get hold of a B series, or even a H22 to repower it.)

Basically, i'm new to the CRX 'thing'. And am wondering what the usual DO's and DONT's are.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share on the subject. And don't think anything is too basic to bring up. As I said, I know NOTHING about CRX's except that I have always considered them to be an awesome little car.

    Thanks again.

The JDM CRX you've bought is an EF6. It's basically an EF8 minus the B16A, RSB, big rotors etc. It will have all the JDM features, including curved front indicators, JDM bumpers, raised bonnet, black trim around the rear tail lights as well as the lovely glass roof and rear seats.

The AUDM CRX never came with slotted rotors so they're either aftermarket or (hopefully not) OEM's with slots.

Best thing to do is go straight to www.crxaustralia.com. It's the best for CRX information, help and comradery.

B18C will be a better choice over B16A imo, do it once and do it right

EF8 & EF6 will fit. If it's fixable fix it. If not, u have to source one.

Just hope he doesn't have to source one! The only one I've seen for sale lately is Pav's and that's $500 in average condition lol
