B18c engine knock but different

Hi guys, need help with a knocking noise so here are a few points

1. Doesn't knock on start up until a few seconds later (opposite of most rod knocks)
2. Mostly a constant knock but when rev'd rattles and stops for a few seconds
3. When rev'd makes a rattle (as above) but stops for upto 10 seconds then happens again

Does this sound like a possible snapped valve bouncing around?

ok guys, will strip the bottom half of the engine today and check it out, pretty certain it is rod knock, it must be at a really bad stage because i bout the car like this (with a no starting problem) will post up how it goes
