Eg vs. Ek - which to choose
Hey guys
Tried doing a search about the eg civic vs. ek civic but couldn't find anything
The question is :
I'm in the market for a new daily. Narrowed it down to the eg gli or ek gli civic, manual hatchback's only
Thus - From experience, can anybody tell me what is the better car to buy in terms of driveability (ride comfort, space, etc) and ease of performance modding?
I know the EK has a 1.6 whereas the Eg 1.5, and thus has a bit more power
Im just undecided in to which to buy, Yes I have test drove both, and decided I like the look of a JDM eg more than an Ek, but the Ek feels more comfortable to drive, but still can't decide which to go for, seeing as i've never owned a civic before and don't want to regret choosing 1 over the other
Another question I'd appreciate answered is which is lighter and handles better with a few basic mods ( coils, I/H/E )
Any help appreciated, cheers

do EK, better comfort, better ride. im going to upgrade to ek soon. interior feels much better
-
EK > EG for comfort doors feel allot firmer, less rattles
Rehab is for quitters

Ek would obvious have the better chassis to start off, newer an slighty stiffer chassis, an ofcourse, newer engine an interior
id say stick to eg if ur planing to drop in a engine, an plan on track work, simply cause its lighter

EG will always be legendary!
-
personally i would go with the EK
i have an EG - but the EK is newer and nicer - but slightly heavier
if i had a choice to swap my EG for an EK - i would do it tho

Not planning on engine swaps, its just going to be a daily.
EK gli's are out of my price range of 4k, looks like ill buy an e.g and save up for an ek4 vti-r
thanks guys

I just think that the EG looks a lot better on the outside, nicer curves. If you're going for a GLI daily driver though I'd get the EK one because it's a 1.6L instead of the 1.5L EG, and it's newer.

well it does seem like you are doing eg route for the jdm rep. when it comes down to affordability.
upgrade the motor to sohc vtec?
cheap and it doesnt blow out the: investment vs resale ratio
plenty of aftermarket support
thats it go get one now!
-
why would you get a eg gli when you have 4 k and can afford a eg si or vti
better features and specs
shakes head
-
been on the market for an si or vti, rarely find any in good nick under 5k (nsw)
ive had a worked eg before but id prefer the ek now
