    Exhaust intal question

    Hey fellas,

Got my Gretty Ti-C dual exhaust mid-last week and have just been reading up as much as possible on instal guides.

Just a quicky - The rubber hangers removal suggestions seems to have mixed opinions of putting WD-40 to ease the process. Some suggest to use soapy water? Has anyone had any issues/experience with using either or?

    Thanks in advance!

WD-40 is the way to go. Just wipe off the excess when you've finished.. I doubt it'll eat through that rubber! (Anytime soon anyway).

    With WD40 - 2 minutes.
Without WD40 - 3 hours with alot of damage.

    Ask me how I know.

I had to change over a few bits that would've been easier if I removed the exhausts, but I thoguht it was too tight etc etc, frustration got the better of me.. Arms full of bruises/cuts.. hahah gotta love cars hey.

I know that WD-40 would make life so much easier - just dont want to be draggin my new exhaust along the highway thats all. I haven't yet checked the condition of the hangers. Would you think there would be a problem however if I was to use soapy water?

No problems with soapy water, whichever makes it easier for you I guess.. I spray WD40 on everything, and I don't thave any problems.. lol

this age old arguement about WD40 deteriorating rubber....on many bike forums i'm on there are people who vigorously defend the use of WD40 saying they've used it for years on their chains with no ill effect.

then you get those who say their chain only last xxx k's because they used WD-40.

really....you're not spraying acid on the rubber so no big deal i say.

if you are super anal....go grab some silicon lube from supercheap or something.

The easiest thing by FAR is dish soap on its own. I spent ages trying to pull the exhaust to clean up the mufflers using soapy water - wasn't lubey enough.

Get the hand dish soap bottle, squirt it all over the hangers, rub it around with your fingers so it gets into all the grooves. Comes off easy.

Wash it all off when you're done. You won't have any problems.

You mean as in dishwashing liquid soap?
