CVT swap to 4 spd auto

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if a 4 speed auto swap into a CVT transmission VTI sedan is straighforward and possible? Looking to buy a VTI with stuffed CVT although want to keep it auto as its going to be a daily driver.

    Thanks

It could be done..... But would be alot of work. A CVT is an entirely different thing. In a cvt, there is only one set of plantary gears, so basically it's a 3 speed. But then you have the chain driven section which variates the ratio. The main problem you will hit, is the control of it. A cvt does not use any form of valvebody to shift, so the control units will operate differently, meaning the wiring will be different = big job.

We have lots of problems with CVT tranmissions on Audis. =P
