problems with system setup

hey guys,

everytime i turn up the volume to above 20+ there appears to be a problem. some of the beat don't come through, its like the song is getting cut and is discontinuous. At the moment have a alpine 9815 head unit with a 12inch type S subbie and a Alpine 4 channel amp MRP-F240. Can anyone help with this problem?

do you mean there are short bursts of silence? how good is your amp's ground connection, is it to clean bare metal allowing for minimal resistance between the battery's negative and the amp's ground.

no, not silence, just that at high volumes it seems like the subbie doesn't kick in. The bass seems to fade on and off.

Have you turned it up and looked at the amp? does it have some sort of overload protection that's kicking in, d/c'ing power to your sub?

maybe check your RCA's?..
