    Dc2r syncros

    So i have noticed crunching on my dc2r at 5000rpm or higher shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear.

    Even after changing the gearbox fluid the problem still persisted, therefore decided that the 3rd gear syncros might have been done for.

    Does anyone know if the B18c7 (dc2r) syncros are the same as the B18c2 (vtir) syncros? Found the b18c2 gearbox at the local machanic.. Help is much appreciated!

    I also think the syncros are diff. Pretty sure ive seen dc2r specific ones advertised

    have a search mate im sure its been covered before

    but notionally, the two gear boxes are different, both 5spd, but the R gearbox has shorter gear ratios and a shorter FD, so i would assume that the synchros may be different

    okay so if i change just the third gear syncro from the b18c2 i will affect the final drive? so i guess it will have to be the dc2r syncros.. its too bad they come in a set with 3rd and 4th gear syncros...

    Most folks say they're the exact same
    yes they will. there all the same. 2nd gear has dual syc. in both, ls tranny's do'nt. the synchros are not the problem, the slider & drum cause the shifting problem. after missing gears the leading edge of the slider gets bured then diggs into the drum. sometimes locking you out of the gear across from the one missed. new synchros fix this only because you can only buy them with the slider & drum. all you probably need to do is to file and sand or polish leading edge's of the slide and the groves of the drum. done this at least 10 times this year to my tranny.

    If its out, may as well do the whole lot.

    If 3rd is gone, the others are probably worn too.

    Synchrotech or Mfactory ( I think they are the same, same thing, different name) carbon synchro's.
    Order from the U.S. same price or cheaper. Good as if not better than OEM.


    I would just live with the GB until I could afford to reco the whole lot. As I said, not worth it to take it apart just to do 3rd gear.

    why do the whole lot if the rest are in perfect condition?

    and ... why would you want synchros from a b18c2..

    When u do any work on a gbox/engine you should always budget to do the whole lot because opening up a gear box can be like opening a can of worms, finding that there is more damage than you first thort. If you do end up only needing to replace certain parts then its a bonus
