Double Overhead Cam

[h=Further Information]1[/h]
DOHC engines are quite common in Honda models. The key feature of a DOHC engine is the provision of separate cam shafts for both intake and exhaust vales. Furthermore the camshafts are located on the head of the engine and 'directly' actuate the valves. This is as opposed to some pushrod engine designs where rods are used to actuate the valves via the camshaft cam lobes.

In a [wiki=SOHC][/wiki] engine design, a single camshaft is used for both intake and exhaust cams
