    Need engine help ASAP

My s2K has a broken piston and scratched bore. The local mechanic thinks it is beyond repair.

Is there anywhere near Geelong/Melbourne that specializes in Honda engines and repairing these sort of things?

If not, then does anyone know where I can get a second hand F20C?

I can't find anything on google or ebay.

    wow!

it should still be able to be rebuilt.
you would need to change the sleeves, rods and pistons

a second hand engine may be the way to go.
worst case scenario you may be able to import one from japan

    try: importmonster.com.au
they have a browsing feature which allows you to browse yahoo auctions japan
and quotes on shipping, they have a warehouse in Melbourne where you can pick your item up.

engine would cost at least 1k to freight and would be around 3 month wait.

Yeah I have never dealt with the mechanic I took it to before so maybe he just doesn't want to do it/wants to make money. You never know.

As if they can't bore it out and replace the pistons, if this was possible what sort of power would I gain?

Thanks for the link. I don't want to replace the engine unless I really have to.

i agree with vyets you will have a heart attack at honda

you could buy a stroker kit, which would be everything you need.
may still need to buy sleeves though depending on the kit. - could see some good gains but you would need to do ECU to compensate still.

id be going for fresh oem parts. and possibly some higher comp pistons.

It really depends how deep the scratches are. If they are shallow you can bore and hone and fit new aftermarket oversized pistons. If they are deep you need to fit sleeves and corresponding pistons. Probably no need to replace rods unless they are damaged or the pistons your purchase require it.

But if you're on any sort of a budget or time constraint a secondhand engine is the go. They often pop up locally.
