The ADVAN A050 smashed the World Time Attack record by doing a 1:28.81 lap time around Eastern Creek Raceway (Compare that to the V8 Supercar time of 1:30.18 on slick tyres). The ADVAN A050 was used by 5 of the 7 fastest cars and by all of the top 4 fastest Australian teams. The ADVAN A050 is also making a name for itself in Tarmac Rallies.

The ADVAN A050 is a R-spec grooved race tyre for wet and dry. It has 2 major strengths. Outright speed. Maintaining good speed after many heat cycles and when worn down. Soft compounds suit Time Attack events, Hillclimbs or cold conditions. Medium compounds suit Tarmac Rallies and circuit racing.

Tarmac rallies require speed and tyre durability. In 2011 competitors using ADVAN A050s filled the first two places in the Targa Tasmania Early Modern Class, came second in the Modern Class, won the Showroom Class and the EV Challenge.

The ADVAN A050 likes to be around 30psi hot. It's available from Yokohama motorsport dealers. Ask them for advice on the right size to generate optimum heat for your application and ask them for tips on tyre set up to get these tyres tuned in to your car.

    Features

How does the ADVAN A050 differ to the A048?

It has a different construction for more linear steering and more even contact patch pressure distribution. The centre of the tyre is designed to heat up faster while the shoulders are designed to heat up less. This gives more even temperature across the tyre.

The rounded tread grooves are designed to spread load more evenly improving performance and prolonging the life of the tyre.

    So.. What now?
