right now i got 6inch speakers in the rear parcel shelf (its a sedan) and i was wondering if neone has put in 6x9's without having to either build a new parcel shelf or cut extra holes or anything like that?!

you either have to cut holes in the metal or use spacers

try super cheap auto or places like that, they sell pods or brackets to put 6x9's in saving u the trouble of cutting metal Or you can make something yourself....

Make an MDF spacer to avoid cutting your rear parcel shelf

Straithfield have a nice range of 6 by 9 shelfs and in different colours!

P.S. Why do you want 6 by 9's?
You sit in the front and your ears face forward, spend your money on a nice set of splits!

    100% agreed with Poid!

However, you can build spacers under the shelf as the others have suggested too.

i was faced witht he same problem as well in my si sedan
so i bought 6" speakers for the back and they were pretty fuken shit.. my dad gave me some 6x9's and this time i could actually hear the music from the rear of the car.. then the 6" i put in the front and now it sounds pretty fuken good... trust me dude go the 6x9's in the back.. even if you have to drill holes in the shelf (like i did).. its worth it cz its not like you'd wanna go back to 6" after you heard the 6x9's

Depending on your budget, you can have lower-end (cheap) to high-end (high quality) splits & subs. Oh and an amp (or two) of course. Sub (and high quality split) is useless without amp.

IMHO, 6x9 is only necessary if you don't want (or don't have) a sub. If you want to have a sub forget about the 6x9 rear speakers.

I've just got my Euro installed with Focal K2P split at front, rockford HE2 12" sub, and it rocks baby!!!

I fade the rear so only front splits and the sub is on, and it's so damn good, much better than the stock. I must admit the stock was very good, with its 6x9 for the rear and split system for the front; but it can't compete with a much better split and a sub.
