'97 Prelude intermittent immobilizer

Hey y'all,

My 97 Prelude has an intermittent fault where it won't start, and brings up the flashing green key light. Other times it's fine. It's like it's not reading the code off the key or something. At this stage I'm looking at bypassing the immobilizer completely.. Anyone seen this problem before?

could be a fault with the recieiver on the ignition barrel, or something metal is interfering with the key and receiver
