    89 crx info. (regarding boost)

hi again, many people have started trying to talk me out of taking the b18cr out of my type r to put into my new crx

so ill boost it, what sort of power can i pull out of the stock a8. is there a weak point in the engine?

is there a plugnplay ecu? can the factory ecu be chipped?

i wouldnt bother sure there has been many who have spent the money on a boosted D-series crx. To run some crazi 1/4 miles times but the technology, availability and of course relibility from a newer engine on boost would be far better.

Needless to say speak to the owner of A.C.S Drag featured CRX.

i wouldnt exactly spend a great deal of money on it, it would just be a muck around street car. something thats a little bit of fun, but reliable, maybe 8 - 10psi through stock engine. jus enough for a little fun

Dont let anyone talk you out of putting the b18cr. If your looking for reliability definetly do not turbo the stock a8. Doing a mild turbo setup will require you to spend a fair bit of money to get it to run right and probably be just as fast as the b18cr. Also take into consideration the d16 tranny is not as good and has no lsd. Go b18cr you should be faster then b18cr eg/ek due to the lighter weight of the car.

i have a haltec ecu brand new. was guna use for ef9 b16a turbo. but now selling went different way now.

but b18cr will be awsome in a light chassis

Jonny went all-out and made 245kw on his best dyno run, and ran an 11.6 quarter mile.

    If you're running 8-10PSI I don't see why you can't make an easy 120-140kw.

and that would be plenty.it would only be a street car with a little bit of boost behind it. could even test to see how much you can push through the stock engine.. i can get another engine for a few hundred dollars.

turbo d16 safe limit will be 220whp, but people have manage push more than 250whp wif 15psi and still no prob.
stock ecu can be chip but like i have ask around an no1 in aus tunes chipps. unless u wana tune urself then u gonna need air/fuel wideband, exhaust gas temp, boost gauges and a laptop.

with a turbo d, sure u wont get the respect like u do in a b swap but who cares.

Its really fun to drive on the street and probably about as far as you would want to push a stock D and keep it reliable.
