    dc5r gear stick is threaded?

    my gearstick is threaded and it was like that the day i bought it. my gear nob doesnt sit on it and it is wobbly and when i take it off there is a smooth patch half way through the threading. is the only way to fix this to get a whole new shifter? the housing or whatever thats called?

    what more is there to it, a die or die nut is your best bet to save the current thread.
    If you can't an engineering place could make a smaller thread on the stick and machine a short adaptor to go in between the knob and the stick.
