How do you remove the clip from the shift rod gearbox end?

Does any one know how to get the shift rod off the gearbox end on a 1988 Honda Civic D15b4? I have taken off the extender gear linkage need to get the clip off the shift rod.
    Any help appreciated.

Trying to get gearbox off for spare parts for my better model Civic.

Remove the Pin retainer and then you have to bash the Spring pin out with a 8mm punch

8mm punch or similar sized Phillips head bit/screw driver. Is called bitch pin for a reason
Why don't you tell your daddy to comb his damn hair, look like some spiders is having a meetin' on his head.

just like to add - depending on the surrounding shift linkage it may be alot harder than it needs to be (to remove)
    - make sure your punch is perfectly FLAT and no rounded or splayed edges. Alittle WD40 or similar spray in and around can help.
Also try to use either a smaller hammer and use many smaller blows or use a larger mallet and a few taps will loosen the pin out
