Smash repairs left marks on my forged rim! Should I let them repair it?

Hey guys, I picked up my car from the smash repairs last week and found that they have 'guttered' my wheel while changing the tyres. They've also left a couple of gashes on the spokes, it's deep enough to see metal! They say bring it back this Thursday and they'll fix and paint it for me...but I'm mistrustful of them, because they usually just work with those guttered shit alloy rims and mine's a two-piece forged Racing Sparco rim. THey are just a normal smash repair shop...should I let them do it? Or is it better I go to a wheel specialist and have them foot the bill?

Do have any before and after photos?
I would let them try and repair the wheel, and if you are still not satisfied then take it up with the boss. Any damage that they have done will need to be repaired at their expense.

So they admitted it? That's good.

All shops have insurance. If they're not able to repair it, or if don't want them to repair it at their shop, they should be obligated to foot the bill for you to have it repaired elsewhere.

I would give them a try, you might be surprised. Often it's the shops I didn't expect that gave me the best results.

Where are you located? I know a place in Melbourne...

Yeah I took it up with the boss; he didn't speak much English so his wife told me to take it back to them on Thursday and explained it was the tyre changing place that did it...but I saw they had a tyre changing machine in the back along with a balancing machine, so I deduced it was them who did it.

I wouldn't doubt the quality of their repairs (as I'm quite happy with the panel work) but I'm concerned that their methods of repairing normal cast alloy rims won't work with a forged rim?

Oh...and one of the boss' comment is my rim was soft and that's why it got easily damaged when the tyre was removed WTF...it's a forged 2 piece rim!

Probably best to take it back and see what they do with it. Atleast they admitted it makes it goes in your favour.
Then if you're not satisfied, can prob get them or yourself to take the car into a shop you trust and get them to pay the bill?
That way you atleast gave them a chance.

Repair it at a specialist place and get them to foot the bill. It's only fair. Besides, who knows what else they could have done to the ride

Is the rim rashed on the inside? Can you please post up some pictures of the damage?

TyrePower in Hawthorn VIC rashed my Mugen MR5, which was freshly refurb'd and just getting brand new rubber after I imported them from Japan. I feel your pain

DON'T LET THEM MILK YOU ! you have to play ball with these clowns. Have you tried using your space saver instead of buying a spare wheel?

why have they put a weight on the outside of the rim? aren't they supposed to do it on the inside when balancing wheels? i get the feeling they are very amateur at tyre changes and wheel balancing. sounds like they're trying to offload blame too. would never go back there after you're done with this.
