    painting rims.

here is an image of my rims.

what I need to know is can I do a decent job of painting the silver parts black myself and what type of paint would I need?
is it better to just go to a panel beater and get them to spray the rims?

    Hi champ,

that would be easy to paint.

Mask it off with 3m tape or so, sand the silver bits down with 1200 gri wet sand paper, then go buy 3m etch primer from supercheap spray that as the etch primer is used on bare metal so when you lay the paint layer on it will stick.

Painting process is easy, be patient do not overspray.. Spray lightly as you can wait for coats to dry properly before next coat, also spray in a well lit and dust free area. As it will be a bitch if bugs and crap get stuck on you paint when your painting it or drying.

    Good luck!!

The guys at MightCarMods have made a video about painting wheels.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oG-1uzLJr0

Their video is about painting the whole rim, so your situation might be a bit different if you're only painting part of it. You might still get a few useful tips from the video. Good luck.

my only advice is to also sand it back before you apply primer etc

there is a clear coat on that milled allow...
