Not entirely sure just replying because I'm bored from this meeting.

I don't think so simply because EG Si has DOHC engines and CXi are SOHC's

does anyone know the gearbox number on a d16a8? does it have s40 in it, because it should bolt straight on if it does

    OBD-1 gearbox are S20
    OBD-2 gearbox are S40

all D-series gearbox's are interchangeable - the only problem you might have is if one is cable and the other is hydro - the shift linkages will be wrong

if you want a performance increase opt for a D16y1 from EG hatch VTI, D16y8 from EJ coupe VTI or JDM D15b gearbox they are the best quality and ratios
the D16y1 and D15b are stamped with S20 B000 (the crap ones are S20 A000) - some of the JDM D15b's have OEM LSD installed as well
and the D16y8 will be stamped S40 B000 (the crap ones are S40 A000)
    - although the D16y5 from the EK sedan also has the S40 B000 housing stamps but does not have the good ratios - so be careful

i also think there are 2 input shafts, but easily corrected with the correct clutch plate.

    guys please

The d16a8 transmission , uses 2 equal driveshafts AND a midshaft. ALL other D series use 2 driveshafts , one longer than the other. Also , the dirveshaft splines are slightly larger (same as B series) on the D16a8 setup.

What this means is it is NOT a direct fit/replacement to another D series including your d16y4 CXi Ek.
To fit this EG Si transmission , you will also need the driveshafts , midshaft , gearbox and clutch kit all to suit D16a8 transmission. Then you can install it onto your car...
