    dc2r gearbox?

just want to find out if the type r gearbox's are tight or loose when changing gears? because mine was kinda tight when i got it but its loose now (after 6000 km) and my mates dc2 vtir is heaps tighter then mine. Can any1 help me out here?

hmmmm, where did you get it from?

so it is 6000km since you got it and now it is looser than it was when you got it?

    sounds slightly suspicious...

could also be a loose shifter rod bolt though

My VTiR is pretty damn tight and grippy - not the smoothest of things occasionally, but at least you feel like it's not going to fall apart on ya

mine has about 5 centimetres of free range when in gear (side to side movement) which is more than any other vti-r i've sampled. but it's been like that from the word go- 140k km ago.
i stopped worrying about it a while back
    And so it begins...

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

yeah the shifter rods are under the car. (one is the actual shifter rod, the other is the shifter stabiliser)

they attach under the floor to the bottom of the shifter, there are a few bolts here to check,

and also attach at the gearbox, there are two bolts here to check...

they should all be 12mm bolts...

do NOT over tighten them... ie if tehy are not loose, do not tighten them

if all bolts are tight, it could be a worn rubber bushing, so inspect these at the same time...

im my old car (mx6 turbo) the shifter could go probably 5cm in BOTH directions when in gear.. it was the rubber shifter bushings which were like $12 from mazda
