    Eg breeze problem!!

hey guys, sorry if this has been posted somewhere already, tried looking but couldnt find anything!

Anyway, a friend of mine has a '92 EG Breeze hatch (carby engine) and lately whenever he drives it, the car will randomly turn off and the battery light will light up on the dash. The car will start back up straight away, but will randomly shut off again with the battery light.

    help!

UPDATE: just found out that when you dont press the accelerator, thats when the car dies and battery light comes on.

To the above, It's a breeze, it doesn't have an ECU for readings.. Well it DOES have an ECU but it's not the same as an EFi car.

Another thing, Breeze's didn't come out with RPM gauges.

There is a small Idle screw near the carb which can be adjusted to raise the the RPM Idle. Try that before anything else.

Carbs have low pressure mechanical pumps so it could be a possibility of it playing up and not delivering fuel, but that would be through the whole rang, not only on deceleration. I'll write up a bit more info later.

Maybe you need to clean the throttle body? Had same problem before cleaning it worked

if its a carb, u might need to have it serviced, or check the idle control adjustment spring..

your probbaly have and EACV fault,

the ECU will blink a diagnostic code out from the onboard LED.

to test this is the case, when its ideling OK unplug the EACV. if the engine stops stalling at idle then replace the EACV
