budget spec car mats

This is my first thread so here goes.. Hope you all enjoy this simple diy job

Car mats on a budget

Materials:

White spray paint ($7 from local bunnings, the helpful lady recommened a flat enamel for best results, unfortunately they had none in stock)
Cheap carpet mats (picked mine up for $10)
cardboard (fairly thin as it needs to be quite easy to cut through)
Stanley knife or similar
double sided tape
Computer and printer
Glue (ahh remeber the days of school where glue fights were the best)
Metal ruler


1. google any logo from the net you would like to put on your mats ( i used a honda badge and civic logo). Remeber Bold and simpler works best!!



2. Print the logo out at the size you want

3.Glue the logo to the carboard. keep it square to the carboard which makes it easier to to alling later on the mat


4. WIth stanley knief and ruler, cut the logo out.




5. Apply double sided tape to the rear of the carboard stencil





6. Place stencil over the area you want the logo to be and stick down hard (the better the last two step are done the better the image produced so take the time to get it right)



7. Apply a coat of the white spray paint. Allow to dry. and repeat 5 or so times. (or more if you wish)



8. Remove stencil carefully ( i found peeling it back from corner slowly stopped any residue spilling onto the black areas)

9. allow to dry well before use







10. This can be repeated for just about any logo and looks great with internal neons.

not something i would recommend for a show car or weekender, but its was for my daily and i was getting sick of my civics grey interior.

How does the paint stick tho? Wet shoes..

dunno quite wat your asking there. buy some spray paint and see for yourself on some old ones first or even old indoor carpet. i first got the idea from a gym i went to, they had marked off areas on the carpet by using duct tape and spray paint. apparently on a floor that is walked on quite often it is quite a hardy technique and doesn't deteriorate too quickly

How does the paint stick tho? Wet shoes..

just locate the logo where 90% of the time the shoes do not touch it if your THAT worried.

if the paint comes off id just keep the stencil and paint over it again. all part of the maintanence i guess .
