As the topic says what is the actual difference between the engines, a link with exact specs comparing the two would be great other then that a site with all the ZC's figures would be great, along with a site with the details of the D16A.

the only REAL differnce is that the ZC is the official JDM ( japanese domestic market) engine - uesed from EF to Eg civics + tegs + crx's etc...

I myself have had a d16a8 powered Si , but when i refer to my engine i just call it a ZC - as physically i believe it is in almost every way - any ZC parts u find ( headers, cams etc etc) should directly bolt up to your localyl produced d16a8 -

THE only other big diff. is the ZC computer is different to teh aussie d16 - both are rated at 130hp ( 96kw) but the JDM one is tuned for higher RON fuel.

Go to one of my known ZC sites - www.thezcr.com

Almost Ben, the ZC was also used in the '84-'87 Civic and CRX Si :P:P:P

The ZC came in different configs including DOHC Fi and DOHC twin-carb as well as a SOHC varient. The JDM ZCs were rated between 115 and 130ps and came in gold and black rocker covers. There is also a "hot" varient rated at 136ps, but it was limited to the race spec 3rd gen Civic and 1st gen CRX.

The aussie one runs different engine management to the JDM, but still puts out the 130bhp.

... and that's all I know about them.

ZC is also found in the rovers, and as said they are the same as the D16A8 except the computer.

LOL - I'd forgotten them - the 4 door 'tegs with Rover "styling" and badges

    Good call Wyn

EG5: The LSD was optional on all Civics - including the '70s SBCs.

rover zc is pretty much the as integra d16a3

d16a8 (gen2 crx not sure on others) is pretty much the same as jdm zc but has better fuel mapping in the ecu (programed for higher ron) and has slightly higher comp.

hhmmmm thanks for that guys. I wonder where my car comes into it... I'd be interested to find out if it has an LSD and if it is the "hot", "race" model. oh well no matter soon I'll be ditching it for more torque from a b18. how much do they fetch for? considering both the more powerful model with LSD and also the more stock version without LSD.
