    --> OBDII CEL Scanner <-- Q&A

    hey guys,

decided i would try and assess my CEL codes and try to fix the issue myself, i have grabbed a ELM327 of a fellow OH member. it looks like this!

this is where i have tried to plug it in.

under the steering wheel, on the left of the foot well.

my question is for anyone with experience in this product or very similar,

it keeps asking me to "configure a COM port for the bluetooth connection"!

Q- why would i need a bluetooth connection if it has a direct usb connection??

Q-is this connection the right one, and if so, is meant to be a very snug fit?? i almost have to force it on!

Q- what is the best software to use for reading the CEL codes??

any help would be much appreciated!

    cheers

Try searching "elm 327 obd2 honda" or similar -

    here is some info

    http://www.mp3car.com/engine-managem...327-usb-2.html

A replacement driver for ELM327 1.2a under vista and windows can be found there:

    http://www.prolific.com.tw
Download >> USB and Firewire >> USB to I/O Port Controllers >> PL-2303 Software and Drivers

    Good luck
Mine uses a virtual COM-port, and as far as I remember, they all do..\

    Try these: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Most virtual COM-port devices use the FTDI chip.

    Cheers Bennjamin! it worked!

now, be patient with me guys as i am determined to work this out myself!
i got these codes come up on the scan tool today:

    P1166
    P1167

i have taken these CEL code description from here- http://k-series.com/dtc.html

    it says:

P1166 - Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction
P1167 - Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Heater System Malfunction

i will obtain a DC5 Service Manual, and see how we go!

i also took these screen shots, while the engine was idling!

is there anything here i should be concerned about??

Checked the fuses and they are all intact, will do the Other checks tomorrow!

Has anyone had the exact same codes appear that might be able to speed up my diognosis?
