Car shakes after hitting over 80Km/H..

My car shakes on 4th gear when i get to around 80 - 100Km/H - it does the same on 5th gear as well.. could it be the wheels ?

    could you be more specific?

what actually shakes? the entire car or your steering wheel?

    things to look at;

    1) What is your tyre pressure?
    2) When was the last time u got a wheel alignment?
    3) Did you get new tyres? if so, have you done #2?
    3) When travelling speeds above 60klms, do you hear oowing noises or the sounds of wheel bearing noises?
    4) Did you install anything recently? if so - did you fit all the parts correctly / secured? i.e. engine mounts etc?
    5) Are your shocks on its way?
    6) Are the other gears - 1-3 ok? - no vibrations?
    - If vibrations or noises can be heard/felt, then your gbox could be on its way...

the above are common faults, go through it 1 by 1 and inspect --> rectify.

let us know how you go.
B to BFrank to K .... ive had it ......

    1. The steering wheel mainly but it also feels like the car.
    2. Front wheels are on 33 PSI and back on 32.
    3. Haven't done a wheel alignment yet as I just bought the car.
    4. No noise from the wheel bearing.
    5. Has coil overs but pretty sure its installed properly.
    6. Gears 1 - 3 and 6 are ok.
    7. Vibration can be felt not heard.

    Thanks for your reply

    Manual tranny right?

if its mainly on your steering wheel and feel it also on the car, mostly at the fronts yeh?

then it could be that u just need a wheel alignment, but saying that gear 6 is fine.

do you have mag wheels? if so, jack up the car and remove each wheel.
inspect it - as it could be buckled.

if you have standard wheels, then do the same for above.

HAS the car been in any accidents that you maybe aware of?

Worse case scenario your gbox synchros 4-5 could be goneskies?

or mayb you need to machine the flywheel or a goneskies clutch plate/disc.

start with the simplest thing, get your tyres balanced with an alignment & go from there

ikr - my first was a lemon - every pay day would go towards to the car in fixing the fhuker. so after having the car for 6months i sold it.

too much hassle and waste of money.

but dont give up str8 away - try the simplest and cheapest solution first then reconsider.

Most tyre shops are open till about 4pm on a saturday (in melbourne at least) so you should be able to get your wheels balanced & alignment done no worries =]
