Also for reference, my EG hatch with B18C (vti-r) with I/H/E, bigger fuel pump & VAFCII tune was averaging 10L/100km (suburban driving that included VTEC & mountain runs) from a 40L tank

yeah man track your fuel usage (L/100kms)

    should be anywhere between 8.5-11.5L / 100kms

to measure this just run your car till empty and fill up a full tank & reset odometer

the next time you fill up note your KM and also the amount you filled up

e.g. you fill up 28L and travelled 300kms

    You calculate 2800 / 300 = 9.33

    so thats 9.33L/100kms

remember you dont need to go all the way to empty but just everytime you fill up reset the odo and make notes of your distance travelled and fuel you put in

makes it easy peasy if you have a spreadsheet that just calculates this - i had one which all i had to do was input the KM and L filled

Some tanks are not a square box, it may be larger toward the top then narrow out toward the bottom hence why the bottom half goes quicker.
It also has something to do with the fuel tank float and needle.... so you may think your losing petrol fast but its just the float needle giving false readings.

    Better explained - Enjoy.

So I've come to conclusion that it could be either fuel pump or injectors? Any ideas/suggestions how I can fix this..
just a suggestion but maybe start with the cheaper things like new fuel filter and new air filter.

    dont quote me
but maybe without realising you might be pushing the accelerator pedal down further to get your car to move as the fuel and air filter are clogged.
essentially the injectors are getting less petrol which makes it lose more bc your trying to push more through to no effect.

even still i dont think the fuel filter will completely solve your problem.

    i support what 1900-hustler says.
this should give you an indication to see if your either paranoid or you actually do have a problem.

Ain't sure if i'm correct but from experience but have you been turning on and off your car alot lately :/ it consumes fuel...
    Ran around only 310km

check oil? Apparently from Honda specialist Hanny's.. the genuine Honda oil they use is more fuel efficient compared to others! ( have to try this out myself when service comes ! )

yes true - frequent short trips (less than 8mins or so) then your car will experience higher fuel consumption

and hannys does use OEM Honda FEO - it is very good however because it is a mineral substance it would be recommended to change every 5k kms as it tends to break down before the 10k km interval compared to synthetic oils

ive had my car for 12 years and the only time i get more than 320-350 is when i am freeway driving... and the car is services as if it was a Ferrari...

a lot of it has got to do with your right foot... mine is rarely used (over the last 5 years anyway), and when it is it get only a few moments of vtec.... dunno, im not too worried about it, but its always been that way for me

Drove back down to Melbourne last night.

    filled up 28ltrs after 380km's

thats 7.4ltr/100km's. 120km/h on my speedo constant. Car is 10km's away from the 80,000km mark.

from memory, i get roughly 450km's per tank combined city/highway.

    Is the car running cold?

Look at your temp gauge bud. If the car doesnt warm up it'll run extremely rich.

Common on the B series for the thermostat to fail in the open position.

Happened to my dc2 before, and i was doing 250-300km to a tank.

Also check what youre idling at. You said the throttle cable has been modified.

Theres a lot of variants in terms of faults in the car that may contribute to high consumption.
    Leaking exhaust or intake gaskets?
When the oil was change, what was the grade? Too high and it will cause too much drag on the engine components.
Has the tappets been adjusted? (every 40,000kms)
Has the wheels been changed on the vehicle?

If your fuel consumption has been consistent going the same route day in day out, and all of a sudden it starts to drop. Its either, something has been replaced (modified) OR something is on its way out/about to fail.

Worse comes to worse, you have loss of compression in one cylinder causing loss of power in turn causing the driver to apply more throttle each drive.

How long is a piece of string.
