d16 knock/clunck at high rpm while changing gears.

hey guys, ive got an eh vti. so d16y1. ive noticed that at about 7k rpm, when i shift gears i get a clunck noise. now the clutch does need replacing. slips a fair bit during spirited driving. coul this be the reason? what could it be? clutch bearing maybe? im looking to replace the clutch. would this fix it?

ive owned one previously, also with a worn clutch but never had this problem. beginning to worry it might be the bottom end.. any ideas/advice?

    cheers guys.

maybe a broken engine mount? check them out to see if the bushings in them are cracked.

ill definately have a look at them. but the car just passed a rwc. so im guessing things like mounts would be okay? it sounds more mechanical but i cant distinguish whether its the engine or clutch/gearbox..
