Either i build a b20b vtec or get a b18c, either way you look at it, i want something to last

b20 man by the time u spend money on the b18c u can build a decent b20. plus more torque and more power. and b20s have been proven to be reliable.

Building a b20 vtec isnt that hard right??
I heard the b20 block needs to be reinforced is that true?.
Hear too much people saying bolting the head and new pistons plus a good tune can make a reliable b20 vtec.
If i can build one running at 110atw ill be happy if alli need is head + pistons + b20 block.

    correct.

you need to rebuild the bottom block to ensure it hand handle the VTEC power and extra pressure.

keeping in mind that the B20 never was built for vtec, so therefore you will need to ensure you have a breather kit, and the oil pressure return to the VTEC head otherwise VTEC will not engage.

You know that motor in the previuos EG, it made just over 160kw (Tuned by DD)
But since the original cam pulleys were removed & the cam timing was never re-set by Dave,
I guess that would account for some of the power loss.

It also had ITB's, straight through and bigger exhaust, no aircon and no P/S

OP, have you considered going k series? Thats another option and will be in your budget if your looking to build a B20.

thats right Adrian .. do u recall what cam pulleys it had? coz right now it still has adjustable cam pulleys ..but the cam timing was detuned by previous owner.

my final V2 tune would involve cam timing, s300 touch up, fuel delivery, 70mm tb matched ported IM.

correct.. the ITB's made the extra power .. dunno bout the exhaust size ...as mines got 2.5inch now ..

i initially wanted to Kswap ..but it was way over the budget ... 10k+ kswap ...might as well buy another car.. lol

    This engine has
NO CNC crank work where that came from I have no idea
    Bearings are ACL Race Series
    The conrods are SCAT
Pistons are RS Machine 84.5mm they have a 3.5cc dome based on USDM ITR pistons
    Head studs are ARP
    Cams are Rocket Motorsport M22x
Cam gears where Skunk2 Tuner series

CYL Head is a STD ITR
yes Supertech flat faced valves,Springs,Titanium Retainers
Combustion chambers where CNC machined to 81.5mm bore
The life of a 4 stroke engine
It sucks it squeezes it bangs it blows
