I need a new car....lol
Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.

You won't have any regrets buying an S over a TYPE R. (Unless its an NSX-R that is). Although its probably not so practical if the S is to be the only car in your household. Not much space for luggage.
A.K.A. Telly - It's HONDA till I DIE!

Do not feel so bad. The car had been resprayed black, it was originally yellow. The front right suspension had been repaired. It had that annoying common AP1 clutch buzz problem. The fuel gauge did not give an accurate reading and the rear bar was slightly cracked. But apart from that, it was a pretty good car and the respray was done quite well.
This car:

Has also been resprayed, it was originally black. But the owner is a proper panel beater and did it himself. It was professionally done, but chose to leave the engine bay untouched as I recall. Clutch was on its way, and I think it needed two new tires for the rear. But everything else was fine and the color looked incredibly nice. I think $25,000 was the best he would do (about 2 months ago) without a rwc. Doesn't appear to have dropped the price.

Was the nicest one of about 7 s2000's that my friends and I checked out. Everything was perfect. The front bar had been hit as he honestly mentions, but it would be almost impossible to tell had it not been for the sticker left on it. So it was professionally done. Nothing had been pushed in or anything. I tried to get it for $24,000 without a RWC (2 months ago) but wouldn't budge. Nor did he budge for $25,000 without a rwc. This was two months ago and he now has it for $25,000, so maybe can drop it a little more.
As for the other s2k's for sale in Melbourne I cannot provide any extra information. The other ones we checked out have somehow been sold. There was one that literally had almost no oil in the engine. Did not even register on the stick. Another one that had its front fenders replaced/resprayed but could not figure out why. And driving in a straight line would make the cars front wheels turn right for some reason. Not a wheel alignment problem, but something else. It required a bit of strength to hold it straight and turn left. Both been sold.
There was so many s2ks that were written off, due mainly to collisions. Some even twice. Several of them have now been sold.
So yeah, thought I would provide you guys with some information on the s2ks that we checked out. I had a friend that was a mechanic, which obviously significantly helps when buying cars.

+1 for that mate thanks heaps for the info! really informative.
yeah im having no luck down here in sydney with getting a well looked after and undamaged s2k lol, might have to make the trip down to melbourne and have a look at that black one, looks pretty clean from the pics as well.
my mate just bought an s2k off gumtree, i thought it was a bit sus but all car checks and inspections were a tick so he got a mad deal on it

No worries. Trying to get "at least 1 Post Quality point" (whatever that means) so I can advertise a DC5 in the for sale section.

We weren't having much luck here either and contemplated going to NSW to buy one. But it is a costly risk. Because if the car sucks, then you have to drive/fly back. Both time and money wasted.
Here is the PPSR Certificate for the black one. https://rapidshare.com/files/2654892...ate_UKB719.pdf
One annoying thing was that it was under finance. I called the finance company to see how much was left owing but they cannot reveal that information unless you can give them the payout figure, then they will confirm that it is legit. So you have to ask the owner to call them to get a payout figure. He gives you it, then you call racv finance and tell them the figure and they will confirm that. Then write two checks, one to racv, and the remaining to the owner. He said there was only like ~$2,000 left. I told him that he should just pay it off to increase the probability of him selling the car. He said it is for tax benefit reasons. He is an accountant... So that might be plausible.
For the white one I mentioned https://rapidshare.com/files/1045344...ate_TOYS2K.pdf
And some others if anyone needs it. Rego number at the end of the file.

Saves people paying the $3.70 fee.

There can sometimes be good cars on other sites, that are not listed on carsales.
They usually include:
-Gumtree
-Tradingpost (I usually hope some old man advertises a mint condition sports car at a low price because he has never heard of carsales).
- Firesport
- eBay
And the usual forums, ozhonda, nissansilvia, skylinesaustralia, s2k international.
Just have to be patient and realistic.
I would personally get an EP3 if I had the money and was on my P's. They are cheaper, lower km's, better fuel, most come in white (which I prefer), and both handling and speed are just as good as the s2k. Most look to be unmolested and in good condition.
But it is personal preference.
