    servicing own car

    Hi folks,

    i am attempting to do a minor service AKA oil change myself and just have a few quick questions.

    could i drain the motor oil / oil filter without car jacked?

    well actually, no

    cos you cant fit through a drain pan to catch the oil.
    but if you just let it drip all away on your driveway then yes you can.

    You will need super small and ultra triple jointed arms to get it all in and out...

    You gotta jack it up to undo the bolt and remove the oil filter. You can lower it while its draining to get most of the oil in the sump then jack it up and drain the rest out.

    Car ramps? Bitch please... Reverse the rear wheels of the car off a really tall kerb and walla! Front of car is instantly raised at least 10cms

    Drive car onto a dirt road/ground.

    Dig a massive hole undearneath the car

    And presto, room to drain oil.


    But on serious note you should jack it up to drain oil with jack stands or on to ramps.

    Also ensure you have a new washer for the oil drain plug and new filter with the oil change

    Also before you put the oil filter on to fill it up with some oil and put some of the oil on the filter seal

    anyways...

    i bought 2 jack stands from super cheap auto for $35 that`ll do

    btw got any recommendations on what spark plugs i can get? super cheap doesn't stock any for my 06 accord euro.
