    Installing tachometer

Im planning to install tachometer to my civic and wondering the legal requirement of installation.
Can the unit be install on the dash above the air con outlet ?
If not, what is the legal requirement ?

See below pic (not my car). Its from the net, showing left hand side drive.
But it shows the same tacho mount. Is that legal in NSW ?
Reason I ask is because I was told tacho cannot be legally mount this way because it obstruct your view. True ?
    Thanks in advance.

As above, obtain an EK Gli, or VTi-R Cluster.

Easy to swap over and will work with modifications

Only problem is if you want to keep the log books as the same with the kms on the cluster.

Otherwise this way will be safer in regards to legality with the police/RTA

anything above your dash (where the cluster housing sits) is deemed defective. - as it blocks your visibility to the view of the road.

so in that picture - the location of that monster tacho is a defect in NSW roads.

your best bet would be swapping the clusters around as to what every1 has said above. OR mount your monster tacho lower than the dash horizontal line.

reason i know coz i got done 2yrs ago for my exact same location of the tacho - got defected.

though when i question the friendlys about my GPS location they said "thats different, and its in the middle/centre of the entire dash which isnt blocking your direct line of view" .... i was like wtf?
