    b18c7 not hitting vtec ..

    Fellas,
    Quick question.
Yesterday driving home and went to hit vtec and basically seems like the engine is going into detonation and will not crossover. Will rev passed there but vtec wont engage.

I know it could be a number of things but wanted to ask before.
Figured it could be something to do with water as had plenty of rain but still the same today.
Checked plugs and all good and have 1/4 tank fuel

    Any help appreciated

Could be a million things dude, Did water get into the car? Look around the ECU to make sure it did not get wet.

Does the car misfire or does it have hard starts now? Sometimes condensation and moisture can cause the distributor cap and rotor to wear out, so check them to be safe.

Other than that, here is the "Why VTEC Doesnt engage" Thread

    http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=830163

Here is a systematic way of figuring out why VTEC won't work, if you have gone through the basics:

    Good luck

have you checked the most basics thats visible to the eye?

    Are there any CEL Codes?
Check that the VTEC Solenoid plug is connected?
Check oil pressure switch plug is connected?
    Checked oil levels?
Are you hitting vtec at cold temps? - should be at normal operating temps.
    Timing could be off?
Knock sensor plug could have fallen off?

check the basics and then go from there.

i would check the engine oil first as the vtec will not activate if the engine is runing low on oil.

next thing i would check is the vtec wires at the back of your ECU.
google the specific wire for the vtec.
