    "Virginal diameter" OF - EF9 B16a

    Hi all,
Thought I'd givethe EF9 its first service yesterday. Went to remove the oil filter and my two filter removers tools both had trouble gripping the skinny little oil filter as it strayed within the confines of the removing calipers. I eventually got it with an oversized pair of multigrips after shedding a few expletives.

Has anyone else experienced difficulty and how have you overcome it?

Yep, large multigrips for me too. Best to put a little bit of oil on the rubber ring before installing the new one. Makes it a bit easier to take it off next time.

The factory oil filters are smaller than aftermarket ones, too. It isn't good when service mechanics put the oil filters on with a rattle gun either .

Same problem here when I got my EF9, get the tool that attaches to a small ratchet handle and has 3 legs that grip - you need the smallest of them. Don't overtighten the unit on installation and oil it's ring (love the sound of that ) before installing.

    Cheers

mate there is NO way they would even fit a rattle gun in that space let alone put one one with one... every service place i know does oil filters hand tight.
