Smell of electronic gadget burning inside the car, should i take it to a mechanic?

you mentioned there's a constant burning smell, IF it's still burning there's a chance there was no fuse to protect that circuit that burnt out which means the short is still live and a big chance of an electrical fire

If you can see or smell strong fumes coming out from under your dash DO NOT drive it
