Does any one here know how to remove all air con and if possible power steering parts from the engine bay of a 1991 honda civic gl with the D15b4 engine?
Help much appreciated!
U will not lose power if the ac is connected unless its On. Removing power steering will give u a bit more power , taking ac is kinda useless unless u want a room for big turbo charger
i know it sounds funny guys but I am doing a vtec mini me conversion eventually. I am just doing free mods at the moment.
I have had a b16 CRX SIR I ain't new to honda
I done it now anyway I meant take the whole lot out not just stop them working. Weight reduction and removing all the hoses etc. Tidying the engine bay
as hmetro24 said, removing the a/c won't really make any difference except from a weight reduction perspective. The a/c compressor uses an electric clutch (i.e. a magnet) so when its not on its not using any power.
If you wish to remove the power steering, you will either need to open up the steering rack, and remove all of the vanes from the pump within the rack, fill the assembly with fluid and close it all up. Alternatively you can make a line that loops the input and output of the rack, but again, ensure its full of p/s fluid. Then to remove the rest simply remove the p/s belt, unbolt the pump, reservoir, and remove the lines connecting the pump and rack.
But like everyone else has said, its not really worth it.
