    imo.

I have both those products, but these are not necessary for the average DIY'er. more a specialised tool.

the one from costco is decent. owned by my friend and he leaves it in the rain sometimes.
pretty good for its price. i would go for a costco one over the non alloy type any day.
also its good enough for home. no point having a big one for home. i got a big one at home. its good but its effing heavy.

i also decided that im going to buy the costco one aswell.
went there and they had no more of it.
since now they do im tempted to go and buy it.
but im currently busy. so i guess its gotta wait.
plus only getting it for track day. next track day for me is Honda Nats.

after reading the costco jack, it does seem that they are pretty decent.

anyone want to ship one over to perth for me? :P

i do kinda need a jack as my old one crapped itself (no more lift!)

My uncle has a costco membership, i might go there this weekend to buy one with him, not sure yet. I am happy to buy an extra one for you but be prepared to pay whatever shipping it, which i won't know till i get the jack. Plus i don't want to get stuck with the jack if you change your mind!

Rang repco to see if they have the 64 pce set and they don't, they said it's normally $325 or something. Half of that is about $170. On ebay they are about $200. I'm going to pop down there anyway to check out what they have.

So I went to repco and they hardly had any sidchrome at all, and the 64pce is a special order as they don't usually stock it and it costs about $320.

So I went to total tools, they can do the 64pce for $250 which is not pad at all I think. They also had the 94pce bahco for the same price.

I really like the bahco and it includes spanner and screw bits which the sidchrome doesn't, but you cannot get replacement bits if you lose a bit, and it does not have as many metric pieces as the sidchrome. So I think the sidchrome set is the better option. I do think the bahco bits are nicer though and ratchet feels better than the sidchrome one.

    Thoughts?

thanks alot for your kind offer. im trying to find out the price of shipping, as my GP now wants one too as he has been looking for a used one for quite awhile now. have to find out shipping charges before i know whether or not it is worth it.

as for the 64pcs set, id be more inclined to get the following:

    20pcs 1/2" drive socket set
    21pcs 3/8" drive socket set

And maybe even a sparkplug attachment and you should be pretty good to go.

Those 2 kits are really nice, they are on ebay:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sidchrome...ht_4659wt_1110

All together they are $294 + postage which is a a fair bit more than $205 + free postage for the 64pce set on ebay or $250 from total tools.

Plus you get imperial pieces too in the 64pce set, but it is missing the 20mm piece, i don't know why they didn't include it.

As for the costco jack, let me know how many you want and we can organise something. From the ebay ad here, it says the shipping weight is 24kg, which means auspost will not ship it.

    I would also recommend:

    air compressor
    multi-meter
    battery charger
    service manuals
    EG

air compressor good for cleaning and dusting engine bay, getting rid of water in tight cracks.

but yeah, generally agryy with the above, although I think all that stuff is for the more srs guy.
