    Cu2 rattle

    Hi all,

i have a CU2 That seems to have gained a rattle under load about 2500 RPM Sounds like a ball bearing in a tin can it goes off after above that does it in most gears all about that rev range,Seems more prominent when cold, although it doesnt make a noise when stood still,I have just had 100k service new plugs oil/filter K@N Filter etc. I did fill up the tank about a week ago, just wondered if it might be fuel (95 octane) any help guys?

    Cheers

Your car engine is pinging, recommend using 98RON.
What grade, brand of oil did you use?

Mine use to ping underload and its brand new. Honda will not do anything to fix this, not mine anyway. I did a simple change and the pinging is 99% gone. Mine pings only when in 5th gear at low revs and only when I plant it such as going up Bulli past. It will ping for 1/2 a second before it drops a couple of cogs.

I don't think it's because you ran 95 as to 98. This car is delivered for the Australian market so 95 would be fine. It's not a performance car so it should not notice the difference.

If it ends up being the fuel I would say it was more due to a bad batch, not because of a 3 point drop IMO.
