    Australia's Fastest K-series All Motor - 10.9 @ 123.8mph *BYP Racing

    Update: 16/8/2012

With only a month away from Jamboree 2012, we are back in the drag car to get it ready for the event. With unforseen circumstances (we wont get into details yet), the engine was remove last thursday and refitted on Monday. We made some slight changes to the intake, with a velocity stack now situated outside the front bar. Yanks beat i would pick up 2-3mph and i guess they are the expertise when it comes to drag racing. Let me tell you they were right!.

    1st run
It was a nice and easy run 1st run to make sure everything was right before we rev this little 4 clylinder to 8800rpms. With a slight mis-shift, the car ran a 11.2@122mph. The team was quite confident this will be the night for 10's

    2nd run
With an increase of the launch control, we got into the 1.5 60ft range and with clean shifting, we achieve our target of 10.9@123.8mph. The car and engine felt strong and the MPH translate this feeling. A quick word by the Andra officials with our 10sec pass meant we will need a compliant roll cage, full race suit and upgrad licence to run in the 10sec barrier.

    3rd run
We sat out for the next 2 hour of the night so we can get one more run in before we get kicked out. During this time, we had alot of people come up and check out the car. Alot of people cant believe its still naturally aspirated and the simplicity of the engine combination. We also had a mysterious electrical issue that occurred out of no where. After 30mins of diagnosis, the problem lied in the grounding of the battery. Not sure why the original ground wire failed, but a new ground cable was quickly made up so we can get out there for one final run.

With cooler track temps and lower tyre pressures, we cut a new 60ft pb of 1.569 and a mid track MPH pb of 99.6mph and 1/8 time of 6.984. This track data is quicker than a 10.9 run. With a mis-shift to 5th, we shut it off and roll across the line with a 11.4@94mph

Our next major event for the drag car is jamboree in September. We cant wait for it! To top of the good night for the BYP team, Jimmy scored $200 for the second quickest reaction time in the other civic.

    19/7/2012
After some small teething issues with its debut last week, we were back yesterday at WSID for its second outing. We were really happy with the overall car set-up going into this outing and we were looking forward to a good night out

As usual, the car gets a quick look over before it heads out. A quick adjustment of the wheel alignment at the track and tyre pressure adjustment and the car was set for battle.
First run was fair from perfect. We had a good launch (1.6 60ft) but the car felt very sluggish throughout the run. Going back to the laptop and we noticed a check engine light for IAT. Somehow this was unplugged. Easy fix, plug it back in and VTEC and VTC are working again. Even without VTEC and VTC we still managed a 12.0@111mph

Second run out, with all system working fine, we ran 11.2@119mph. Temps were getting higher with the blocked front end, so we will be looking into this small issue next outing. Target reached for the night. All seem very easy for the car, so we knew there was definitely more in it. We were still shifting normally and taking it easy on the gearbox

Third and fourth run were the best of the night. Cracking a new pb on the 60ft of 1.607, the car was running 11.1 @121mph back to back. Its a great achievement to say the least, which is now the Quickest K-series All Motor in OZ. Over the years, many have tried to get this title, we are so proud that we have acutally done it with such a basic package.

The most satisfying part of it all is when you get everyone looking at the car, wondering if its turbo charged, supercharged or running NOS. Like we tell everyone, its the good old Honda K-series 4 cylinder. We had nothing to hide and left the engine bay open in between the runs. I think we have surprised and impressed alot of people with this car. These Wednesday outings are great, we caught with fans and friends, meet new people, made new friends and further put the Honda pressence back in the drag racing community.

The car will now have a few weeks off as we get ready for WTAC with our other car. We are hoping our good form will carry on at WTAC!. During this time, a GEAR-X Gearset will be installed and new camshafts will be tested and tune on the drag car. We are going for the 10.8 record held by Online Performance CRX next time out! We wont be holding out on this engine. We know we have one crack at the record, so all components will be push to the limits especially this OEM K24 bottom end

Big shout out to all people who were involved and helped with the drag car, friends and fans showing their support at the drags

Last I heard Bisimoto was holding that record.
Might want to just check up on that but I'm pretty sure he set it using a H2D setup.
