91 Prelude 4WSi Burst Heater hose

    Hey guys,

    Quick question,

Done a bit of googling and just want to know
if a burst heater hose on the preludes is a common problem.

my sister was driving through the hills with her mate and her heater hose burst
expelling coolant and allot of steam.

    Cheers,

    Luke

    I wouldn't say it's either.

Hoses tend to bulge and burst with age and wear. So if it's never been changed since 91, it was bound to go after 21 years.

There's other reasons too like using plain tap water instead of distilled water when mixing coolant which will slowly corrode water galleries and the reinforced walls of the coolant hoses over time, or using poor quality hoses which aren't meant for high pressure applications.

    I'm sure there's more.
