Knocking from the front of EK1, ** help **

    Hey guys,

Ive got a knocking sound comming from the front passenger side of my EK1

I have checked all underneath and there're all tight. apart from the front sway bar links that seem to have a bit of play.

So, bought Hardrace sway bar links and installed. but, the knocking still there! The noise seem to happen on the rough road and pot holes, all straight line and turning

So, I dont know what the problem is. shock may be? strut tops? how can I check?

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Did you look at your driveshafts?

    Shocks not leaking?

i had a knocking sound on my ek as well, however from the rear. it turned out to be the screws holding the bumper on were loose so i just tightened them up with bolts. sound is gone.
guess you could give that a go.

Hi, how can I check the drive shafts?
couldn't see any leaks tho, might have to take the wheels out for better look

Driveshaft boots could be cracked, and filled with junk. So check the cv boots for cracks probably?

Left engine mounts are a common failure on EK's

ok guys, checked everything as mentioned.

end up the noise came from top rubber, shock absorber mounting. sprayed it with Inox lubricant and the noise gone

don't know how long will it last before the noise comes back... so, where can I get this rubber s to replace it? gotta be genuine only?

    cheers

I think energy suspension sell the small strut top rubbers, will make the ride firmer though...
