Ended up with an unofficial time of somewhere between 1:08.5 and 1:09.5. I'll hopefully be at the Circuit Club ANZAC day trackday which has official timing though Will also be bringing some improvements if I attend

    Build thread commences here!

First I want to recount the story of my time with this car up to today, and then I'll keep the thread up to date from. It might take me a few days to complete this :P

So I got the car in May 2012, and it's quite fair to say it's a completely different car since then. It had a few days rego left, and needless to say I enjoyed it's last moments ever on public streets!

This is a pic of the car on the roads for its last night, in Canley Heights :')

The car came with quite a few goodies. B16A2 done by Hanny's performance with AC and PS, dc2r 5 stud conversion, ASR struts, sound system (good for recouping some cash), etc. Also it had no sunroof, and a rigid, rustless body. It was a great platform for a track car.

Once rego ended, the stripping began.

Not sure why there was so much sawdust here...

Most (not even all) of the useless "junk" that was removed!

Sitting in 4WD after all that weight loss

There were just a few more things to remove before getting to business. Here I am removing the foglights.

    Removing PS with JDM-Derek

Then I removed the dreaded sound deadening! Got some dry ice from BOC and got it off with some patience and prying.

Just look how much was removed! There was roughly 9-10kg weight saved.

This is how it looked afterwards.

Here we are having some fun removing the pea shooter and seeing how it sounds haha.

    Rear wiper delete.

    More coming soon

How it looked after we removed PS and AC

Still had to remove those damn aircon boxes! Here you can see them with the dash disconnected:

    Got them out

    Except for one...

That one pictured above is a real bastard. It wouldn't come out so I started bashing it out!

Oh no! Parked the car too far back and can't close the door

Having the dash off also let me get off all the last bits of firewall insulation.

Eventually I just disconnected the hoses from the engine and pulled the whole radiator thing out in one piece. I then looped the ports where the coolant previously flowed through that heater radiator under the dash, with this silicone hose I got from a local hose shop in Wetherill Park.

Next up was my hollowed-out headlight mod (posted a thread on this in the DIY section).

Then I removed the glass on the driver side (intake side) headlight with my heat gun.

    Engine bay looking nicer now

Still had that damn power steering hose in there though. That didn't come out til the engine was out.

Then replaced that dog-shit looking air filter with a good ol' proven aussie 3A Racing filter for 29 bucks

Coming soon: Changing the gearbox in a hurry before the first track day, installing coilovers, and lots more
