DIY: D-Series Valve Cover in Red

Disclaimer: The following is provided as a GUIDE ONLY, and neither myself nor Ozhonda take any responsibility for the outcomes of someone else doing the following. You follow these steps at your own risk!

Aim: Put EG5 Valve Cover on my EK3 with red paint.

    Needed:
    - 1 can of VHT Wrinkle Plus Spray Paint (in red for Rudi)
    - 1 can of Molto universal Paint Stripper
    - 1 can of Molto paint brush cleanser
    - painting tape
    - sharp knife
    - oven

Disclaimer: This is what I did, turned out all right. You can't really mess up but it is messy and I am not responsible for environmental damage or your being kicked out by your landlord for smelly emissions or the like. So follow at your own risk and be prepared to do it over again, if you mess up.

Used paint: VHT Wrinkle Effect Spray Paint

Stripped cover with mit Molto Universal Abbeizer:

Put the stuff on the cover thickly. If you wanna keep simmerings, make sure to cover them properly. If not it doesn't matter.

Make sure to cover with seran wrap to keep from drying out prematurely.

It will loosen the paint (Fingertest -- if you can move paint with finger through wrap on most places it's been on long enough), use Spatula to remove loose paint. Use brush for lettering. Pour paint brush cleanser on cover, clean of rest, rinse with plenty of water if you are not environmentally consious otherwise wipe of and use steel wool to clean of rest. Then take brake cleaner and degrease (after taping off)

    Stripped:

    Tape off and cut out:

    Taped off:

Create some sort of make-shift paint booth (you will need it if you work in your bathroom ... like I did and trust me the paint fog will creep out)

Do not spray thick coeats. Repeat. Push into oven and bake at 100°C. I left it in for a couple hours sitting at 50°. If wrinkle effect is not as desired let it dry out, sand down, add another thin coat, put back into oven.

    Ain't I a great homemaker?!

    Remove take and sand wet.

    Hope it helps.
