I believe this setup with the D is different to say a B. As in the photo the IACV bolted to the underneath of the TB so you can't exactly isolate the TB from water entering it (thats how I see it). On a B you can totally isolate/bypass the TB because there is a hose from the TB to the IACV.
Removing the heated water lines from the TB is a good thing for performance. Who cares about proving it, to be honest, yes, its negligible and you probably would not see any gain at all. But it certainly a step in the right direction rather than a backward one. All little negligible gains add up to a larger one.
D and B are the same round abouts from memory
I did the same setup for my Turbo D16Y1 then my turbo B16A I believe
But yeah remove heat whenever possible IMO

ahhh cheers guys some good information.... ill def need to look into routing it from the block, once i get the car up 2morrw to bolt up most of the gear up
My b16a2 i just closed off the coolant like Luke did.
I actually did this before i boosted it even. Had no issues.
He is right every little bit helps. The coolant to the TB is for japanese conditions where temps get below zero to stop a frozen TB.
Doesn't really happen in AU. ALso if you've boosted your car, lack of heat is certainly not a problem.
