Smile [CL9] Sound System (Using OEM Headunit)

Hey guys how you going, I am currently working on redoing my accord euro 06 CL9 sound system.
I have bought and installed a XCarlink IPOD into my stock head unit.
I also got from a friend 2x Pioneer 12" subs on a Cadence 4CH amp, which I haven't yet installed.
I am about to buy Front speakers and rear speakers with an amp.
Most likely this set (Good Choice?):
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190685259...ht_6060wt_1221

I want to install all this into my car without replacing the OEM head unit, I want to keep that clean look and also want to save money but have the best sound I can. Is it possible I have been searching for a way to do it no luck yet any help?

save yourself the headaches and money by getting an aftermarket head deck

with the oem youll have a constent earthing noise and youll be blowing speakers left right and centre

I've got JL front splits and JL 6x9's in the back with a JL Subwoofer and 4 chan amp (JL haha) with an xCarlink installed as well and most importantly with the stock headunit. It runs 97% fine! The ONLY problem is that at a VERY low volume (about 1-5) you'll hear a very faint buzz sort of noise, but as you go to 10 or more this will wipe out so no issue. But yes, with the factory head unit i can guarantee it runs perfectly fine without the loss in sound quality, assuring you have decent speakers of course.
Also, the kit you've chosen will be fine for a bit of an upgrade but you won't notice any drastic change in sound quality, I'm not 100% sure if the 06 ones come with 'Bose' audio but my 05 Lux did which was still pretty damn good but the JL ones do MUCH better. Now, IF your car does have a Bose system (stock), those pioneer ones aren't really gonna do that much in quality... personally, you'd be throwing money away. The sub will definitely give you bass but crispness on sound won't differ noticeably, so all you're paying for is Bass really.

Ok cool! Well I haven't got the speakers yet because I wasn't sure what to get! What splits and amp should I get for the front, u am not too worryed about the rear as they are fillers and my subs will do that anyway so my next question is how did you install it to the OEM headunit I mean I haven't looked but I doubt there is RCA ports.

I'm preeetttyy sure there's 1 RCA port, don't think there are more than that... I the JB fella install it for me and I was there when he was doing it and completely forgot what port he used lol. But JL Audio systems are designed to work especially well for stock head units and i'm 98% sure there's enough ports.. I have the front splits amped up with my 4 chan amp located underneath passenger seat and my rears just off the headunit and sub off the amp too. But yeah, not 100% sure about the DIY side of things because I didn't personally do it, but it can be done. Takes about 4 hours of work pulling the plastic off and the whole headunit out. The tweeters will give you a bit of trouble putting in because they're right at the front of the window haha.

Well, on what system to get it comes down to how CRISP you want the sound. For crispness JL is the best to go for in my opinion unless you want to spend over $3k. A decent set of splits (and I mean, pretty decent) is around $250-400. http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-g...its-sku-26049/ Those are my splits (AMAZING price at the moment, just cos it's discontinued stock) Really good 6x9's no more than $300 at most (I'd link you but they don't sell mine anymore). Be careful with subwoofers because depending what kind of music you listen to, they'll all handle the bass a bit differently. For example, cheaper subs won't have a good consistent note with House of Hip-Hop music, you'll just get a loud bang here and there but not hit every single bass note. http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-g...box-sku-52303/ that's the sub I have, it's never let me down. Best sound from the inside of a Euro, you can feel it on your chair perfectly :P And for a pretty damn good amp that you won't have to upgrade anytime soon you'll spend around $250-400. Make sure you get a 4-channel one cos you'll want your sub and at least fronts amped up otherwise it's useless getting an upgrade (Note: Don't amp up your stock speakers, even though you can you'll almost certainly blow them at a high volume for prolonged use. Not recommended). And, as you could've guess I'll link you to the one I've got haha :P (http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-g...amp-sku-99400/) the only reason I'm showing JB links is because I work at JB and know there's big sales at the moment after stocktake and you can haggle quite well. Grab yourself some "Kicker" wiring, don't get that cheap nasty stuff. It won't delivery sound quality correctly. So pay the extra $40. Overall, a pretty damn good system will cost you no more than $1,000. You don't HAVE to get all these ones, but just to show you what you might want if you're after some noticeable quality boost.

But, from personal experience, overall sound quality from speakers I'd rank them like this:
JL = Crisp, Good mids and overall bass is quite good.
Pioneer = Are alright, but at high volumes can crackle and blow speakers easier (I've found, more headunit specialists really)
Alpine = Only the high end stuff is good, crisp but lacks bass depending on model.
Kicker = Have more 'doof' than actual sound, but are quite good
Cadence = Aren't too bad but are still entry level products.

Wouldn't touch any other brand to be honest. It's good to keep all your products same brand, just works easier. For subs, stick with Kicker or JL for quality. These are just my opinions from a LONG time of being annoying on these forums and researching non stop from stores etc and from all my friends who have had work done to their cars. And unfortunately, even I thought you could get away with a cheap upgrade, but trust me, you'll be throwing your money away. It's just not worth it when you realize you can triple the quality from a $400 setup to a $800+ setup, it's a good investment.

I can second what afgmoh said, I'm running pretty much the same setup, with alpine 15" type S sub. You can get the 6.5" splits as well rather than the 6" if you want a bit more mid bass, not sure if JB sells it.

JL's will give you very clear, crisp sound. There's virtually no distortion even with the volume turned up past 70% (not sure what it'll sound like with the stock HU, but I recommend upgrading the HU too). There's a massive noticeable difference in sound quality - especially if you're running a 4-channel amp for the speakers. Depending on the unit, you can have front, rear and sub RCA outputs.

Just purchase a fascia kit from sonicelectronics or ebay, and the wiring harness so you won't need to splice/cut into any factory wiring - it's just plug and play. And if JB's got a big sale, massive bargains of 30%-40% off.

If you're really fussy about sound and want high quality sound, get a sound processor too, Alpine PXA-H800 is pretty good, others have the JBL MS-8. Both will have auto and manual time correction, 31-band EQ plus lots more, you can do some research into them if you're after premium sound quality.

You can just use the factory HU with a sound processor, it would probably be better than just having an aftermarket headunit and amp. Also saves you all the trouble of all the wiring that you'll have to do. It's a good investment, simple installation and removal and you can put it in another car rather than spend all that money again if you do another one.
